GUY BADBOIS I truly truly love the way Spectrin is able to shape, or maybe guide is a better word, the shapeless. Regular irregularities. Enough form to be cohesive but not so regimented that it becomes stale. There is a living, breathing, organic quality to all of it that just sweeps you away. Excellent excellent stuff! Favorite track: Hashed.

Dark Train Thoroughly loving EP1!
It’s a dreamy release harking back to the underground of the halcyon days when you would navigate dark foggy lanes in search of a free party at 3am.
Loving the complexities of the drum rhythms amid warm pads and it’s absolute bliss through a pair of decent cans while traversing through suburbia as the apocalypse looms... Favorite track: Salted.

Letters From Mouse An excellent collection of tunes which gives the listener a proper introduction to the music of Spectrin. Intelligent composition married with an interesting sound palette helps to serve up a fine listen indeed. Will be playing Spectrin on The Magic Window radio show on madwaspradio.com

This is my first collection of tunes, and the result of recorded performances live rather than writing and arranging on a computer. Recoding live instantly created the dynamics and energy I’ve been looking for, and led to a more stripped down, perfectly imperfect electronica sound.

Salted and Hashed are twins. The name comes from crypto; Salting - append a secret to a secret. Hashing - transform it to something of a fixed size. The first track is transformed into the second, which moves with polymetric unpredictability.

Distress Tolerance builds up in almost reverse, resolves when the snare comes in, then continues to slowly grow in intensity.

XOR - Pulsing, throbbing, rhythm without the kick, snare or bassline. The name comes from what I did with the top percussion - I created a single bar of a drum pattern, then used the google magenta machine learning plugin to evolve it and create a large number of variations. I arranged these in parallel, only letting notes when there’s a difference between the patterns, until I found some interesting results.

Sero sugar - lush emotional chords played by feeling and without consideration for tempo, then turned into something else.
